In association with the highly acclaimed violinist Michael Bochmann, Espressivo Concerts welcomes this very fine string orchestra from Fürth in northern Bavaria. Fittingly, they will be playing a largely German programme, including Bach’s wonderfully vibrant 3rd Brandenburg Concerto; Max Reger’s Lyrisches Andante, a deeply romantic work from the end of the 19th century; and one of Mendelssohn’s brilliant, youthful string symphonies. In addition, they will perform Bachorales, an ingenious homage to Bach composed by the acclaimed Worcestershire composer and arranger Derek Smith. The concert opens with an Italian work, a most engaging Concerto Grosso by Corelli from his celebrated Op 6 set.

Full programme:

Corelli Concerto Grosso in D Op 6 No 4
Derek Smith Bachorales for Strings
J S Bach Brandenburg Concerto No 3 in G
Reger Lyrisches Andante
Mendelssohn String Symphony No 9 in C ‘Swiss’
